Botox® & Xeomin® Neuromodulators

why wrinkles and fine lines occur

A combination of factors can cause facial lines and wrinkles. Over time, as we age, our skin produces less collagen and elastin, leading to decreased skin elasticity. Facial lines and wrinkles can form in areas, such as the forehead, around the eyes (crow’s feet), and between the eyebrows (glabellar lines)

Along with repeated muscle contractions from facial movements cause skin to furrow and fold, gradually resulting in the formation of facial lines. These repeated expressions over time can cause semi-permanent contractions of muscles around the eyebrows, eyes, forehead, and mouth resulting in fine to severe lasting lines.

how neuromodulators work

Xeomin® and Botox® (both neurotoxins), address dynamic wrinkles. They work by blocking nerve signals that trigger muscle contractions. This temporarily paralyses the overactive facial muscles, releasing the skin from the muscle tenson, reducing the facial lines and restores a youthful appearance.

BOTOX® vs Xeomin® – the difference

Xeomin and Botox belong to the Botulinum Toxin Type A (BoNT-A) family, derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Xeomin and Botox have undergone rigorous clinical studies to
prove their effectiveness.

One major difference between Xeomin and Botox lies in their formulation. Botox contains accessory proteins, known as complexing proteins, which surround the active molecule. These proteins are not present in Xeomin. This difference can influence the way your body responds to the treatment. Choosing which product to use should be determined
during a consultation.

Xeomin and Botox have demonstrated their effectiveness and safety through clinical studies. Understanding recovery times, duration of results and common side effects is vital.

Prepare and what to EXPECT

Procedure

The procedure only takes a few minutes. Sometimes, a topical anesthetic is applied to the skin. A fine needle is used to inject Botox into specified muscles of the face to achieve the desired effect. You can expect mild discomfort and a wait of about a week for the full effect, you should see results in at least 10 days.

How Long Do the Results Last

Deeper lines will become less visible, while finer lines will be completely unnoticeable. Over time, your muscle activity will eventually return to normal and the treatment will begin to wear off. Effects lasts anywhere from 3-6 months, with 4 months being the average.

Avoid – For patients who are allergic to eggs, suffer from neurological diseases or pregnant, or breastfeeding, treatment is not recommended.
