Irritable Bowel Syndrome affects up to 20% of people in USA and Europe. IBS symptoms are pains in the abdomen associated with altered bowel pattern and bloating. Rectal symptoms such as irritation, pain or urgency can be present. Sometimes non-colonic symptoms can develop.

Treatments of IBS fall into four categories. These are patient education, dietary modification, medication, and behaviour and psychological therapy. It is agreed amongst experts that behaviour and psychological therapies are more likely to be effective that the other three.

You attract into your life whatever you think about according to the Law of Attraction. The simple explanation of the Law of Attraction is that your thoughts determine your destiny. The Law of Attraction has built up an enormous momentum after “The Secrets”; a documentary film, was shown on Oprah. It has been used for some time for personal growth, achievement and financial gain.

In medicine, does the Law of Attraction work? In 2004, a study of 196 young people and 314 elderly subjects associated with negative thoughts or rumination concluded that negative thoughts can damage your health. In Reikii, all processes of healing or personal and spiritual development is associated with elimnating from a person’s energy field negative KI or life forces, along with negative thoughts and feelings that have created it.

Negative thoughts, following job loss, relationship break ups and poor assessment, affect self-esteem. Feelings of worthlessness, insignificance, insecurity can develop and that person feel easily defeated. A positive person usually have high self-esteem and their level of success is determined by these thoughts.

In Irritable Bowel Syndrome, does the Law of Attraction apply? What information is given to a person when first diagnosed with IBS? There are some common ones. We do not know why you have IBS. There is no single treatment that works for everyone. There is no abnormality in your gut. There is no cure. Stress plays an important role in IBS. You have to live with it. It is also an established fact that most IBS sufferers do not get adequate support from their health professionals.

All these facts are negative. Is it not likely that they can lead to negative thoughts in the minds of IBS patients and produce negative effects? Treatments that focus on the mind are now recommended by experts. Treatment such as psychotherapy and cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) are producing excellent results. Moss-Morris at the University of Southampton, UK said, “Patients who have ongoing IBS symptoms might benefit from a simple, early intervention of CGT, a means of changing thought processes from negative to positive that has been shown to be helpful.” Dr .J. Lackner at the State University of New York reported that there was an improvement in 73% of patients with IBS after four short sessions of CGT and home study manual given to patients.

When a new treatment come on the market, an IBS patient will expectantly try it and may gain benefits. This benefit may not last long because in the mind, there is fixed the thought that there is no cure.

There are cases of refractory Irritable Bowel Syndrome patients after having a course of hypnotherapy enjoying normal lives, eating foods that were previously triggers. Nothing works anymore in refractory IBS. During hypnotherapy, negative messages about IBS are plucked from the subconscious mind and postive thoughts are added. This is the Law of Attraction working at its best. After hypnotherapy, positive thoughts produce positive results and before hypnotherapy, ingrained negative thoughts make symptoms severe.

Using the Law of Attraction, how can you improve your symptoms of IBS? Focus on the positives. Convert these positives into your reality and your thoughts and feelings will change. Here are some positives. There is no abnormality in your gut. Your IBS will not lead on to other illnesses. If stress is a trigger, you can control it. You can balance your lifestyle to improve your IBS. You see yourself one day in total control of your IBS. Whatever IBS treatment you are on, keep your dreams and aspirations positive.
