Jerry and Sarah have been married for six years. They wanted to experience some excitement and fun before they decided to have children and so they consciously developed an especially vigorous social life.
The major problem, it needs to be pointed out, is that practically everything they do to have fun somehow includes drinking. For instance, all of the happy hours, parties with friends, sporting events, family get-togethers, and dinner engagements they frequent are related to drinking.
Sarah and Jerry Start to Notice Some Instantly Noticeable Alcohol Related Difficulties That are Linked to Their Hazardous Drinking
If they were occasional drinkers, this wouldn’t be such a difficult circumstance. Since they drink in a hazardous manner, nonetheless, they are starting to notice some definite alcohol-related issues in their lives.
For example, just two weeks ago Jerry got his first DUI and has been showing up late for work due to alcohol-related health problems. Furthermore, Jerry’s last three performance evaluations at his place of employment have been less than passable and he has started to forget what he does or says while he drinks. In a similar way, Sarah has been feeling down in the dumps with life and to cope with this, she has been drinking more intensely than any time in the past six months. Lastly, Sarah has been feeling much less energetic in the morning, she has been getting to work late at least once per week, and she has been receiving some unhelpful criticism from her friends, coworkers, relatives, and family members about her irresponsible drinking.

One Saturday evening while watching the television, Sarah and Jerry flipped through the channels and discovered an exciting program about the signs of alcoholism.
This television special was a real surprise to Jerry and Sarah because many of the alcoholism signs that were discussed seemed like they were unquestionably related to many of the alcohol-related drinking problems Sarah and Jerry had been suffering through.

After watching the TV documentary, Sarah and Jerry arrived at a decision to have a straightforward conversation about their drinking condition. They both were in agreement that most, if not all, of their social activities somehow included drinking, that they were drinking excessively, and that as a married couple, they were starting to notice alcohol related health, relationship, employment, financial, and legal problems for the first time in their lives.
With thoughts of the TV program still etched in her mind, Sarah asked Jerry if some of the alcohol dependency signs they have been manifesting could be a signal that they are dependent on alcohol or conceivably becoming dependent on alcohol. Jerry didn’t know the answer to Sarah’s inquiry and so he suggested that they make an appointment with one of the therapists at the nearby alcohol rehabilitation facility to find out more about the seriousness of their drinking difficulties.

After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to overcome the drinking difficulties that had manifested themselves in their lives, they actually had the most energizing night’s sleep they could recall in the last two months.
Just before she fell asleep, Sarah turned to Jerry and mentioned how easy it is to reduce one’s apprehension and truly experience some peace of mind by coming to terms with one’s problems with conviction and coming to a decision to do something affirmative about them.
