Sarah and Jerry have been married for three years. They wanted to have some fun and excitement before they made up their minds to have children and so they willfully created an incredibly vigorous social life.

The basic issue, it needs to be emphasized, is that virtually everything they do to have fun somehow involves drinking. For example, all of the family get-togethers, sporting events, parties with friends, dinner engagements, and happy hours they frequent somehow involve drinking.

Sarah and Jerry Start to Notice Some Noticeable Alcohol Related Difficulties That are Correlated With Their Excessive Drinking

If they were casual drinkers, this wouldn’t be such a difficult circumstance. Given the fact that they drink quite heavily, however, they are starting to notice some noticeable alcohol-related difficulties in their lives.

As an illustration, just three days ago Jerry was apprehended by the police for a third DWI and has been ignoring responsibilities at work due to alcohol-related health problems. What is more, Jerry’s last three performance evaluations at his place of employment have been less than satisfactory and he has begun to fail to recall what he does or says the times that he drinks. Finally, Jerry has been going through sleep-related problems and his family is starting to get anxious about his drinking problems.

Not unlike Jerry’s situation, Sarah has been feeling depressed with life in general and to manage these feelings, she has been drinking more frequently than any time in the past ten months. In addition, Sarah has been getting a lot of throbbing headaches and having awful hangovers because of her drinking. Finally, Sarah has been feeling much less active in the morning, she has been getting to work late almost every Monday, and she has been getting some harsh criticism from her relatives, coworkers, family members, and friends about her hazardous drinking.

Watching the Television and Accidently Discovering An Out-of-the-Ordinary Documentary About the Signs of Alcohol Addiction

One Wednesday evening while watching the television, Jerry and Sarah without any planning whatsoever found a documentary about the signs of alcoholism.

This television special was a real realization to Jerry and Sarah because several of the alcoholism signs that were highlighted seemed like they were unshakably related to numerous alcohol-related drinking problems Jerry and Sarah had been suffering through.

An Honest Chat About Drinking Behavior Exposes Alcohol Related Employment, Legal, Health, Financial, and Relationship Problems

After watching the television program, Sarah and Jerry determined that they needed to have an honest conversation about their drinking behavior. They both were in agreement that most, if not all, of their social pursuits were related to drinking, that they were drinking abusively, and that as a couple, they were starting to note alcohol related financial, relationship, employment, health, and legal problems for the first time in their lives.

With thoughts of the television documentary still etched in her mind, Sarah asked Jerry if some of the alcoholism signs they have been displaying could be a signal that they are dependent on alcohol or perhaps becoming dependent on alcohol. Jerry didn’t know the answer to Sarah’s inquiry and so he suggested that they schedule an appointment with one of the healthcare practitioners at the local drug and alcohol abuse rehabilitation clinic to find out more about the seriousness of their drinking circumstances.

Addressing Your Drinking Issues Just Might Lessen Your Trepidation and Give You Some Peace of Mind

Paradoxically, even though their drinking behavior hadn’t yet changed, it was plain to see that Jerry and Sarah were at the very least attending to their drinking problems, they were willing to find out more about their drinking situation, and they were interested in finding out how they could notably cut down the severity or eliminate the drinking-related difficulties that had begun to emerge.

When Jerry and Sarah went to bed that evening, they came to a decision that the next afternoon, Jerry would call and make an appointment for both of them at the alcohol rehabilitation facility located downtown. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to surmount the drinking difficulties that had developed in their lives, they actually had the most peaceful night’s sleep they could recall in the last six weeks.

Just before she fell asleep, Sarah turned to Jerry and commented how easy it is to reduce one’s anxiety and truly experience some quietude by coming to terms with one’s problems head-on and choosing to do something constructive about them.
